What we think, in plain words.
The bill sounds helpful: it joins Alaska to compacts (agreements between states) that let health care workers move around without getting a new license every time. That's good for rural areas where doctors are hard to find. But buried in here is immunity language, respiratory care workers who give free care can't be sued even if something goes wrong. That shields them from accountability. The bill also creates a Rural Health Transformation Advisory Council with no clear rules about who sits on it or what it can do. Since it's enrolled and heading to the governor, this is the last real chance to flag the immunity loophole before it becomes law.
