The Health Insurers Bill
Stop health insurers from dropping your medicine midyear
Drug formularies.
Good for everyday people ·
This bill stops health insurance companies from quietly removing your prescription drugs from their covered list in the middle of the year.
Our take
What we think, in plain words.
When you pick a health plan, you check if it covers your medicine. But right now, insurers can change their list of covered drugs in the middle of the year. This bill forces them to keep their promises. If they drop a drug, you can keep getting your medicine until the year ends. It also forces them to approve emergency drug requests within 24 hours. This is a huge win for patients who rely on daily medications.
