The Fire Safe Bill
California offers tax credits for fire‑safe home upgrades
Personal income taxes: Fire Safe Home Tax Credits Act.
Good for everyday people ·
The bill would let eligible homeowners claim a tax credit of up to $5,000 or $10,000 for fire‑hardening work, lowering their state tax bill.
Our take
What we think, in plain words.
If the bill passes, low‑ and middle‑income families in fire‑prone areas can save money on their taxes while making homes safer, but the state will lose revenue up to $50 million each year.
