- Each school board may employ or accept volunteer certified chaplains.
- Chaplains must pass fingerprint, sex offender and violent offender database checks before starting.
- Chaplain who is on a sex offender or violent offender registry cannot be hired.
- Chaplains are immune from lawsuits for actions taken in their role, except for malicious conduct.
