The Debt Collectors Bill
Illinois bill blocks debt collectors from suing patients during appeals
FAIR PATIENT BILLING
Good for everyday people ·
If passed, the bill would stop medical debt collectors from contacting patients or filing lawsuits while an insurance appeal is pending, and would cap interest on medical debt.
Our take
What we think, in plain words.
Patients could avoid harassing calls and costly court battles while they try to get insurance decisions reversed, and they won’t be hit with high interest if they set up payment plans.
