Sometimes big real estate companies buy hospital buildings and charge the hospital high rent. This can leave the hospital with less money to care for patients. Right now, those deals are often kept secret. This bill would force hospitals to bring those agreements into the light. It passed the Louisiana House almost unanimously and is waiting for a Senate vote. Now is the time to speak up if you want to know who really owns your local hospital.
