Right now, politicians have a lot of power and a big audience. If an elected official gets mad at a regular person, they could post that person's home address or phone number online to encourage bullying. This bill would stop that by making it a crime for politicians to dox the people they represent. It also gives you a clear way to force the government to take your information down if you are in danger. The fact that a committee voted 12 to 0 for this shows that protecting people's privacy is a popular idea.
