The facts
What the bill actually says, no spin.
- Prohibits the DMV from suspending, revoking, or failing to renew a driver’s license for unpaid towing or storage fees.
- Requires the DMV to reinstate a suspended license within 30 days without charging a reinstatement fee.
- Drivers who were denied renewal because of these fees must pay the normal renewal fee only.
- Allows courts to suspend a license for up to 30 days for other offenses after a hearing.
