- Anyone leasing or buying such land must file a notarized affidavit with the attorney general within one business day.
- Failure to file the affidavit can lead to a $500 civil penalty after 60 days to cure the violation.
- Illegal acquisition by a foreign principal is a Class A misdemeanor for individuals or a Class B felony for entities.
- The state can seize and forfeit property owned by a foreign principal who violates the law.
