This bill would make it illegal for doctors to give gender transition care to anyone under 18 in Oklahoma. This means kids who need this type of medical help would not be able to get it in the state. The bill also says that doctors, nurses, and even school counselors who help kids get this care, or even just refer them to someone who can, could be sued in court. These lawsuits could ask for extra money, called punitive damages, to punish those involved. Supporters of this bill might say it protects kids from making medical choices they might regret later. But people who oppose it say it takes away important healthcare options for young people and makes healthcare workers afraid to do their jobs. Since this bill has passed one part of the legislature and is now moving to the other, it is important to know what it would do before it becomes law.
