This bill would stop people from being able to buy or use kratom products in South Dakota and would add penalties for those who do. Supporters might say this is to protect people's health and safety. However, it would take away a product that some people use for various reasons, and it could lead to fines or jail time for ordinary people. Even though it failed a vote in the House, the bill is still moving through the legislature, so people can still speak up about whether they think this ban is fair or needed.
