Lawsuits are expensive, so some people get outside investors to pay their legal bills in exchange for a cut of the winnings. This bill targets foreign investors, like other countries' wealth funds, that pay for Florida lawsuits. While it sounds like a good way to stop foreign meddling, big companies often use these rules to snoop on how a person is paying for their lawyers. This can drag out the case and make it harder for regular people to fight big corporations in court.
