The Paperwork & Exams Bill
Bans endless paperwork and exams for disability benefits
Requires persons or entities providing benefits in the event of disability to not impose "onerous or unreasonable conditions" for the payment or continued payment of benefits thereunder, and provides for the enforcement thereof including actual damages, interest and penalties, reasonable costs and attorney's fees, and in the court's discretion, exemplary damages; exempts worker's compensation and NYS disability insurance.

What we think, in plain words.
Right now, companies can make it incredibly hard for disabled people to get their benefits by asking for the same doctor notes over and over. If this bill passes, it will ban those unfair tricks. If a company breaks the rules, you could take them to court and make them pay for your lawyer. This is a huge win for regular people, even though the state left its own programs out of the new rules.
