The Health Insurers Bill
Stopping health insurers from using AI to deny your care
Health insurance
Good for everyday people ·
This proposed bill stops health insurance companies from using artificial intelligence to automatically deny your medical care without having a real doctor review your case first.
Our take
What we think, in plain words.
Right now, insurance companies are starting to use computers to decide if they will pay for your treatments. This bill would force them to look at your actual medical history instead of just treating you like a number. Most importantly, it says a real doctor must make the final call before denying your care. If insurers break these rules, the state can punish them. This is a big win for patients who do not want a robot deciding their health.
